New licences cost $199 for the Creative edition, which has limited render resolution or $549 for the Professional edition. ![]() Terragen 3.3 is available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. The update isn’t listed on the Terragen homepage, but you can read the feature list via the forum thread below. Other than that, it’s largely performance enhancements and bugfixes, although there is a new HD option for 3D and shader/heightfield previews, which doubles the maximum detail on view. The update also adds the option to edit Tension, Continuity and Bias values for animation keys in the animation view’s curve editor. New animation options, performance boosts It will bring up a few options, and the one we most likely will be using is the set/remove animation key. Planetside describes it as ‘per-object RTO’. To start off, the animation key is located near many fields all over the place, to signify that you can make a keyframe for this setting, and move it around within terragen. The headline change is the new Render method parameter, which enables users to choose which parts of a scene are rendered using ray tracing (faster, but doesn’t support displacement) and which are displaced. You control the weather, landscape, rivers, lakes and oceans, suns, moons and stars. ![]() Create entire worlds from your imagination, or import real world terrain datasets and use Terragen 4 to create the most realistic visualisations possible. Trade raytracing and displacement on a per-object basis Terragen is a powerful solution for rendering and animating realistic natural environments. Planetside Software has released Terragen 3.3, the latest update to its landscape-generation software, adding a new ‘per-object raytracing’ mode, plus the option to edit TCB values in the curve editor when animating. The 3.3 update adds a new ‘per-object RTO’ system, enabling users to fine-tune which parts of a scene are raytraced, and which receive displacement.
